Edgar Vasquez
Content Development Consultant
Edgar acts as a consultant for our team assisting us in drawing parallels between elementary school concepts and real world science and engineering practices and applications.
Edgar works as a licensed Professional Engineer at TechnipFMC, a global leader in the energy industry, technologies, systems and services. Edgar analyzes piping systems and manages engineering teams in Colombia and India, with the purpose of ensuring the power plants he works with operate smoothly.
Edgar is always interested in finding more efficient ways to do things. For example, he’s done independent research on manufacturing musical instruments using “pop-up” technology at the Harvard University Microrobotics Laboratory, and prototyped an acoustic guitar that can be assembled and disassembled in a matter of minutes. He’s also designed and engineered an ATV vehicle that traversed an obstacle course.
Edgar has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Harvard University and was the first person in his family to graduate from college.
Fun Facts:
The team calls Edgar “el músico” meaning the musician. In addition to prototyping an acoustic guitar, he loves playing guitar and is known to frequent open mic nights at coffeehouses. He also enjoys long-distance running, as it helps him to clear his mind and feel healthy. When he’s not playing music or running, he keeps busy reading literature on cosmology and pondering his tiny place in the grand scheme of the universe.
