Team Member / Nancy Pineda
Research & Development Product Manager
Nancy oversees the creation of our chemistry kits from product concepts to commercial use.
She’s a chemist and specializes in developing “cutting edge” products and the procedures to make them successful.
She’s worked as a research and development product manager and chemist for over six years at Jarrow Formulas and Jarrow Industries, leaders in pharmaceutical preparations and dietary supplements for human consumption.
Nancy also worked with Whole Foods and GNC developing a variety of supplements for their product labels, as well developing probiotic supplements for Costco and CVS under the Jarrow brand.
She’s been involved on several research teams, including researching the use of snake venom, detergents and fibrinolytic enzymes in connection to dissolving blood clots and treating heart attacks and strokes.
Nancy’s passion for science was sparked at a very young age out of necessity, when seeing her mother, an immigrant from El Salvador, struggle to fill out medical information and communicate in English when visiting a doctor.
For years, she’s been committed to assisting English language learners in the Los Angeles area to become more involved in STEM education. She’s worked at the Boys and Girls Club tutoring students with science and technology projects and fun learning activities.
Her passion for creating formulas and working with youth led her to joining our team so she could pursue both!
In college, Nancy majored in Chemistry and minored in Spanish.
The team nicknamed Nancy “La Cocinera” meaning “The Cook”. When she’s not cooking up formulas for the team, you’ll often find her standing in her kitchen watching rerun episodes of the T.V. show Chopped, competing against contestants, and then adding her own twists to recipes.
She also loves being the guinea pig taste tester and trying anything put in front of her.
