Team Member / Ted Tegart
Home School Relationships Manager & Content Development Consultant
Ted works as our liaison with home schools, creates content for our Life Science lessons, and also works with our business team. His relationship-building skills and experience with science have allowed him to fit right in with our company culture.
Ted has served as the Education Manager and Youth Education Manger at the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden for nine years, working closely with public and private schools and home school programs. He developed, implemented and managed the current youth and family nature summer camp, including the programming and curriculum guidelines as well as the hiring and training of camp teachers. He’s also developed experiential inquiry-based school field trips aligned to state science and history standards and was responsible for all program budgets.
Before that he served as the School Programs Manager and Museum Lead at Kidspace Children’s Museum in Los Angeles. As the School Programs Manager he developed educational content for onsite school groups supporting national and state learning standards and oversaw all outdoor education programming. As the museum lead he managed 30 employees on the museum floor, created and taught “Kidspace on the Road” and “KOOP” programs for local schools, and worked closely with Program Coordinators, Program Specialists and the Programs Manager to create programs and learning experiences in the sciences, arts and humanities for a variety of audiences including children and families, schools and scout groups.
In college Ted double majored in History and Business Management.
Ted, or “Eagle Scout Ted” as he’s affectionately called was an Eagle Scout as a child and those skills still come in handy when the team goes camping together. He also used to coach boys high school Lacrosse. He currently plays on a co-ed softball team with his wife and is the commissioner and coach for Team Mayhem, his fantasy football league. Ted also hosts an annual block party in his neighborhood for families to get together and play games including corn hole, bocce ball and horseshoes; his wife and two young sons compete together on one team.
